When the Time is Right

"Yes! The Lord has done it, I got the job!"
She screamed in excitement as she hurried down the stairs to share the news with her family. She found them seated in the living room for their morning devotion.
"Mum! Dad! I got the job! Jesus has done it!" She announced.
The whole family joined her in rejoicing, and they began to worship God.
Tayo had spent the last 2 years and a month jobless, trusting God for a job. She used to have a great job, but she chose to resign 2 years ago following the instruction of the Holy Spirit. Obeying that instruction was really difficult, she wrestled with the decision, but she eventually obeyed God. After her resignation, she instantly lost access to her official car, house, and fat salary. She returned to her father's house some days later. The experience was the most humiliating moment of her life.
When she received the instruction to resign, she had questioned God. She wanted to know why he had asked her to quit, but she didn't get any answers.
After spending a week at her father's house, she slowly began to accept the fact that she wasn't daydreaming. Frankly speaking, Tayo knew that she was very good at her job, she was an excellent employee, she knew she deserved that job so she couldn't understand the reason behind the instruction.
After a month, she became so frustrated about staying at home. Even more frustrated that she was now back to square one. She then decided to go job hunting again. She searched a number of companies and went to all but they never got back to her. She kept going out to search for job vacancies she could fill in, but she was always rejected.
Another six months flew by, and Tayo was still jobless. She began to doubt that she had actually heard the Holy Spirit. She was so pissed that she stopped joining the family devotion and she also stopped her personal prayers. It was really hard to keep up because it felt as though God was ignoring her. Her family kept praying for her as it was the least they could do.
Eventually, she got really bored of her daily routine and found the strength to pray again. One night, while she was praying, the Holy Spirit reminded her of a verse that she read earlier;
“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”
Those words kept ringing in her head, and even though she could not remember the exact chapter or verse, she held onto them. She picked up her journal and noted the verse down and kept on praying. At least she finally heard a voice after such a long time. That was all the proof she needed that God was hearing her.
She stayed consistent and tried her best to focus on other things. She decided to learn a trade while taking online courses related to her line of practice. She even volunteered in different programs and kept on building her CV. It was all she could do, and honestly, she felt at peace.
A year went by, and she had so many other engagements, but she didn't forget the word of God. She continued to build herself because she didn't want to be found unprepared when the right time came. She already had a supportive family, so things were really easy. She found herself doing all the things that her former job made her too busy for, and this really made her happy.
Trusting God wasn't entirely easy for her, but she was happy. One day, she came across a job vacancy online, and she felt led to apply. She applied for it and prayed to God about it even though she wasn't sure the job would be hers. Months later, she still hadn't gotten feedback, and she began to worry. She eventually forgot about it and moved on.
One cold morning in the month of July, she had woken up early because she had an interview. The interview was for a different job advert that had been sent by a friend. She decided to check her emails in order to be sure of the address. As she scrolled through her mails, she saw a mail that had been sent two days ago.
She opened the mail, and to her surprise, it was an acceptance letter to the application she sent some months back. It was not just any job, it was the position of a branch manager in Los Angeles. She had never left the shores of Nigeria, but now Tayo was going to leave Nigeria and she was going to be paid to do so!
She was to lead a whole new branch in a new city! A perfect reward for waiting so long and for trusting Abba!!
"Yes, the Lord has done it, I got the job!"
She screamed in excitement.
Trusting the Lord is never easy, but he will show up at the right time. Keep trusting him and watch him work!
