BE YOU.

BE YOU
As young people and students, it’s easy to look at others and start comparing their growth to ours. That’s where the problem begins. Comparison breeds insecurity — we start feeling inferior, inadequate, and unworthy. Negative thoughts creep in, and before we know it, the enemy begins to manipulate our minds.
We begin to ask questions like:
“Does my friend have two heads?”
“Why is he or she luckier than I am?”
“I work harder, yet they succeed more easily!”
And sometimes, we even pray, “God, bless me as You have blessed so-and-so.” But pause for a moment — do you really know the source of that person’s success? Are you willing to make the sacrifices they made? Can you pray, fast, and stay faithful like they did?
The Bible gives us a clear answer in Galatians 6:4 (NIV) — “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.”
In other words, focus on your own lane. Run your race. Be YOU.
You may be juggling school, responsibilities, or challenges your friends never face, yet you’re still standing. Don’t downplay that! You have what others are praying for — even if it doesn’t look like much right now. Stop comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight reel.
Be grateful.
Instead of complaining about what you don’t have, thank God for what you have. Life is not a competition — it’s a personal journey of purpose. Take time to kneel before God in thanksgiving. Ask for forgiveness for being ungrateful, and pray that He uses you as a living testimony of His goodness.
Then, take practical steps forward.
Re-strategize. Reorganize your goals. Take things one step at a time. Have faith in God, and believe that something good will come out of your efforts. Remember what the Bible says in Job 22:28 — “You shall decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you, and light shall shine upon your ways.”
However, don’t mistake faith for laziness. If you spend all day sleeping and expect success to knock on your door, you’re deceiving yourself. The Bible warns in Proverbs 10:4 — “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.”
Work hard. Stay consistent. “Consistency is key.” Keep showing up, keep building, keep improving — and above all, keep God at the center of it all.
Finally, remember this truth:
Be YOU, because no one else can ever be YOU for YOU.
