AT THE RIGHT TIME, THE RIGHT ONE WILL COME

In Junior Secondary School, precisely in JSS2, one faithful evening, I was walking with a classmate of mine on our way to prep when I suddenly thought aloud, “Who are we going to marry?”

I know you might be wondering what led to such a thought. Teenagers think a lot, but to answer your question, I was schooling in an all-girls boarding school. It was filled with different girls, many of whom I felt were more beautiful, curvier, and smarter than I was.

After I said that aloud, Mercy looked at me and said something that has stayed with me ever forever. It has been more than ten years now, yet I still remember her words clearly. It wasn’t that I had never heard it before, but for a 12-year-old girl of my age to say something so meaningful and spiritual meant a great deal to me and made me truly believe it.

She said, “We all have someone created for us by God.” That statement made me smile. It might sound ordinary, but to the 12-year-old me, it wasn’t and till date, it still makes me smile and strengthens my faith.

The point is, if Mercy, a 12-year-old girl, could understand this truth, why can’t we? You don’t have to dress a certain way just to get people’s attention or live a lifestyle you know God would not approve. Each of us has someone we were created specifically for. So why try to attract everyone or involve yourself in relationships you were never meant to be in, when there is one person made especially for you?

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 11:9, “Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.” This further explains that you were made specifically for someone who will appreciate you for who you truly are. Therefore, do not rush, and do not bend or discard your values, because the one God sends will love you as if it is their calling.

Keep praying, for it is also written in Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” One of those needs is a good husband or a good wife, and God knows this because He desires it for His children.

Always keep this in mind: at the right time, the right one will come.
